The folks at Drag Times never fail to bring us exhilarating races. This time, they took their high-performance cars to Las Vegas, treating us to an epic battle between an 840-horsepower Dodge Demon and a 600-horsepower Nissan GT-R NISMO Edition. On paper, the Nissan may seem disadvantaged, but don’t be fooled. Its remarkable all-wheel drive system and impressive top speeds make it a fierce competitor. After all, there’s a reason why this twin-turbo supercar has earned the nickname “Godzilla.” But have you ever witnessed Japan’s beloved reptile taking on the offspring of Satan in such a fierce contest?

It’s worth noting that the NISMO version of the GT-R is equipped with specially crafted tires made by Dunlop. These tires, designed exclusively for this ultra-rare $175,000 Nissan, enhance its performance. Additionally, despite being nearly a decade old, the mighty Skyline still manages a blistering 2.9-second sprint to 60 mph. While the Demon may outperform it on paper by 0.6 seconds, the GT-R’s superior front wheel traction gives it the advantage in launching, provided it’s timed correctly.

Now, let’s talk about the Mopar hell-spawn. According to those present at the event, the Demon had only one modification: race gas. However, it did have an electric cut-out that expelled exhaust directly from the engine, amplifying its power and causing a deafening noise that startled innocent bystanders. The Demon also had its rear tire pressure reduced to 15psi to optimize traction, and cameras were mounted to document the race. Its foreboding black appearance, standing next to the much lighter, silver-sprayed Nissan, created an intimidating presence in the paddock.

As both cars lined up side by side, it was a clash between American muscle and a twin-turbocharged Japanese rocketship. The absence of an area for the Demon to heat up its tires sparked controversy among spectators. With the sun setting over the SPEEDVEGAS strip and a half-mile straight stretch lying ahead of them, the revs built up as the drivers prepared for the epic launch.

Unsurprisingly, the first race ended with an easy victory for the Demon. However, the driver’s celebration took an unexpected turn as he promptly veered off the track, blaming the brakes for his noticeable error. The second race followed, and this time, the GT-R driver made a smashing start, gaining the edge needed to defeat the American muscle car racing alongside. While it would have been thrilling to witness a tiebreaker with a “Best Out of 3” race, there is no denying the excitement of seeing these two formidable beasts—a monster from the Far East and America’s most menacing straight-line machine—compete. We eagerly await the release of more captivating drag race videos by these passionate enthusiasts.
